Carchi

Province in the northeast highlands of Ecuador, bordering on Colombia; area 4,138 sq km/1,598 sq mi; population (1996) 158,893. Carchi is an important agricultural and stock-raising area. The capital, Tulcán, which is situated 7 km/4 mi from the Colombian frontier, is the highest city in Ecuador (3,000 m/9842 ft) and has a population of 37,069.

CHICAL: Gold values of over 6 grams per tonne and numerous samples over 1 gram per tonne of gold, have been received in soil samples from the Chical Project in Carchi Province in northern Ecuador.
Drilling is also planned to commence in the next several weeks on the Chical Project located in Carchi Province in northern Ecuador.
