Cardenal, Pierre (or Peire) (c. 1180–c. 1278)
| Provençal poet. Some 70 of his poems remain, the great majority of them being sirventes (see troubadour) in which he eloquently and tellingly satirizes the vices of the nobility and clergy. |
| He was an ardent supporter of Count Raymond VII of Toulouse and was primarily a moralist. |
