Carmacks

Town in southwestern Yukon Territory, Canada, on the Klondike Highway, at the confluence of the Nordenskiold River with the Yukon River, 137 km/85 mi north-northwest of Whitehorse; population (1991) 243. It is primarily a highway service community.

Named after one of the discoverers of Bonanza Creek (Klondike) gold, Carmacks was formerly a coal mining settlement and riverboat stop.
