Carnwath

Village in South Lanarkshire unitary authority, Scotland, 28 km/17 mi southeast of Hamilton; population (2001) 1,450. Chiefly residential, it provides a service centre for the surrounding agricultural area. A large amount of sand and gravel is quarried locally.
