Carrick-on-Suir Castle

Castle of the Earls of Ormond at Carrick-on-Suir, County Tipperary, Republic of Ireland, dating from 1450. It is unique in Ireland in having a manor house added to it in 1568 by Thomas Butler (‘Black Tom’), 10th Earl of Ormond and cousin of Elizabeth I. The house is noted for its Elizabethan design with curved-headed mullioned windows, ornate plasterwork, long gallery, and piano nobile.
