Carroll County

County in north-central Maryland, USA; area 1,171 sq km/452 sq mi; population (1990) 123,400. The county is bounded to the northwest by the Monocacy River and to the north by the state of Pennsylvania, and drained by branches of the Patapsco River. Its seat is Westminster. Dairy, poultry, and livestock farming are important in this county; agricultural products include corn, wheat, barley, and hay.

Baltimore's northwestern suburbs reach into southeastern Carroll County.
