Carruthers, William (1830-1922)

British botanist. He was assistant in the botanical department of the British Museum in 1859 and keeper in 1871. He was the pioneer in Britain of seed testing, especially of pasture grasses. He wrote many papers on systematic, palaeontological, and agricultural botany.
