Ricordi (lived 18th–20th centuries)

Family of Italian music publishers. Giovanni Ricordi (1785–1853) founded the publishing house at Milan in c. 1808.

His son, Tito Ricordi (1811–1888) succeeded his father on the latter's death in 1853, and was responsible for the publication of many of Giuseppe Verdi's operas.

On his death his son, Giulio Ricordi (1840–1912) became head of the firm. He was also a composer under his own name and that of J Burgmein.
