Caserta, Philipottus da (c. 1350–after 1390)

Italian composer and theorist. He composed works for the papal court of Clement VII (1378–94) and for the Milanese court of Bernabò Visconti (1354–85), and probably taught Johannes Ciconia. His works include one Credo, six French ballades (several in the most complex ars subtilior style), and three treatises on music.
