    0.04 sec.

Cassini, Oleg (Loiewski-Cassini) (1913-2006)

French-born US fashion designer. He moved to the USA in 1936 and began by designing costumes for Hollywood movies before establishing his own New York firm in 1950. He became well known in the early 1960s as the official courtier for first lady Jacqueline Kennedy. His tailored suits and pillbox hats fuelled an international fashion trend. His other trademarks included provocative sheaths and cocktail dresses.

The son of a Russian diplomat and an Italian countess, he was born in Paris, France, and grew up in Italy. After taking American citizenship he served in the US Army during World War II. He was married to actor Gene Tierney 1941-53, and she appeared in his designs in most of her subsequent films.
