Castagna, Bruna (1905-1983)

Italian contralto. She made her debut at Mantua in 1925, and sang at La Scala, Milan, 1925-34 under Serafin and Toscanini, as Isabella, Adalgisa, and Laura. She performed at the New York Metropolitan Opera House 1936-45, making her debut as Amneris, and was well known as Carmen in Australia, Chicago, and Spain.
