Castle Donington

Town in Leicestershire, England, at the confluence of the rivers Trent and Soar, 11 km/7 mi northeast of Ashby de la Zouch; population (2001) 6,500. It lies at the centre of a largely agricultural district. Castle Donington has a large power station, a hosiery factory, and industries include manufacturing springs, trimmings, and lace.

Extensive gravel working takes place in the Trent Valley near Castle Donington. To the south is the East Midlands airport. A rock festival is held here annually. There is a motor-racing circuit, Donington Park Race circuit, which staged the first British Grand Prix. The Donington Grand Prix Collection, the world's largest collection of single-seater racing cars spanning 130 years of racing history, is located at Donington Park.
