Castletown

Former capital of the British dependency of the Isle of Man, in the extreme south of the island, 14 km/9 mi southwest of the present capital, Douglas; population (2001) 3,100. The town centre is dominated by Castle Rushen. The island's airport at Ronaldsway lies on the outskirts of the town, and has attracted industry to the region. Tourism is an important source of revenue for Castletown. There is a boys' private school, King William's College, here.
