Cataño

Community in northeastern Puerto Rico, on the southern shore of the Bahía de San Juan (San Juan Bay) opposite Old San Juan; population (1990) 34,600. It is a processing centre for local sugar, fruits, and corn, and the site of a large rum distillery. Tourism is also important.
