Catherine of Bologna, St (1413–1463)

Italian nun. She joined a community of Augustinian nuns at Jerra, Italy, who afterwards became Poor Clares (see St Clare). Later she was appointed abbess of the Poor Clares at Bologna, Italy. Celebrated for her visions, in which she beheld the details of our Lord's Passion, she was canonized in 1712. Her feast is on 9 March.
