Catherwood, Frederick (1799–1854)  From Views of Ancient Monuments, by English artist Frederick Catherwood. Catherwood accompanied US archaeologist John Lloyd Stephens on his exploration of Mayan remains in the early 1840s, and produced several volumes of drawings from his travels.
