Catlettsburg

City in extreme northeastern Kentucky, USA, 3 km/2 mi south of Ashland; seat of Boyd County; population (1990) 2,200. Founded as a trading post in 1808, it is an oil refining and manufacturing city situated where the states of Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia meet, at the junction of the Ohio and Big Sandy rivers.
