Cauca

River in Colombia, which rises in the Andes and flows north to join the River Magdalena near Maganagué; length 970 km/603 mi. The Cauca is partly navigable for small craft on its lower and middle course. The river flows through rainforests and swamps in its lower course near its junction with the River Magdalena. The Cauca valley is especially fertile and beautiful.
