Cedartown

City in northwestern Georgia, USA, on Cedar Creek, 82 km/51 mi west-northwest of Atlanta; seat of Polk County; population (1990) 8,000. Industries include the manufacture of tyre cord fabric, cotton and woollen goods, chemicals, paper products, furniture, agricultural tools, cheese, and vitamins. High-grade iron ore is also mined nearby.

It was founded in 1854 on the site of a Cherokee village.
