Centuripe

Town in Enna province, central Sicily, on a hill 45 km/28 mi northeast of Enna; population (1991) 6,600. There are sulphur mines and marble quarries in the vicinity. Centuripe was one of the most important towns of the Siculi (the earliest historical inhabitants of Sicily) in ancient times.
