Cernohorský, Bohuslav Matěj (1684–1742)

Bohemian composer, theorist, and friar. He travelled to Italy, where he was cathedral organist at Padua 1710–15 and at Assisi 1715–20 and 1731–41, and is believed to have taught Giuseppe Tartini and Christoph Willibald von Gluck. He was a highly valued composer of church and organ music, but most of his works were destroyed by fire in 1754.
