Český Těšin

Industrial town (coal, textiles) of northern Moravia, in the Czech Republic, on the River Olše, 25 km/16 mi southeast of Ostrava; population (1991) 28,700. The river marks the border with Poland, dividing the town from the Polish town of Cieszyn.

Poland seized Český Těšin 1938 but it was restored to the Czechs in 1945.
