Chávez, Edward (Arcenio) (1917- )

US painter, sculptor. He has worked in graphics, painting and sculpture, and his abstract paintings, such as Mirage (1961), have secured his reputation.

He was born in Wagonmound, New Mexico. A Mexican American, he studied at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center with Boardman Robinson in the 1930s, travelled in Europe, and was based in New York City and Woodstock, New York.
