Chadwick, John

Chadwick, John (1920–1998)

British scholar. He was born in London and educated at St Paul's School and Corpus Christi College, Cambridge. He worked on the Oxford Latin Dictionary 1946–52, before returning to Cambridge to lecture in 1952. In 1960 he was appointed Collins Fellow of Downing College, Cambridge. He collaborated with Michael Ventris on the decipherment of the Minoan Linear B script.
