Chadwick, Lynn (1914–2003)

English sculptor. He is known for his 1940s mobiles (influenced by Alexander Calder) and for welded ironwork from the 1950s, typically spiky, pyramidal ‘creatures’ suggesting the human figure. In the 1960s his work became chunkier, influenced by Minimal art, but subsequently he returned to more figurative work. He has worked in various materials, including sheet steel, which he began using in the 1980s.
