Chaffee, Roger B (1935-1967)

US astronaut. He worked for the Apollo project on three systems: flight-control communication, instrumentation, and attitude and translation control. He died, along with Gus Grissom and Edward White, in a fire aboard Apollo 1 during a ground test on 27 January 1967. He was selected as an astronaut in 1963.
