Chagrin, Francis (1905–1972)

Anglo-Romanian composer. He studied at Zurich, Bucharest and, with Paul Dukas and Nadia Boulanger in Paris, and later with Mátyás Seiber in London, where he joined the French section of the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) Overseas Service in 1941. In 1943 he founded the Committee for the Promotion of New Music.

Prelude and Fugue and suites for orchestra; two symphonies; piano concerto.
