Chalfont St Giles

Town in Buckinghamshire, England, 7 km/4 mi northeast of Beaconsfield; population (2001) 6,700. The poet John Milton lived in Chalfont St Giles during the Great Plague of 1665–66. He finished Paradise Lost and began Paradise Regained here; his cottage is now open to the public.
