Chamberlain, Wilt (Wilton Norman) (1936–1999)

US basketball player who set a record by averaging 50.4 points a game during the 1962 season, and was the only man to score 100 points in a game.

He played professionally for the Philadelphia Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Lakers, and briefly for the Harlem Globetrotters. Playing against the New York Knickerbockers in 1962 he became the only man to score 100 points in a National Basketball Association (NBA) game. He was the only centre to lead the league in assists. He led the league in scoring 1960–66, was NBA Most Valuable Player in 1960 and 1966–68, and retired 1973 after a 13-year career.
