Chambonnières, Jacques Champion, Sieur de (c. 1602-1672)

French harpsichordist and composer. He was in the service of Louis XIII and XIV, and also worked for a time in Sweden. He taught several of the later harpsichordists, including François Couperin and Jean d'Anglebert, and published two books of harpsichord pieces, illustrating an important stage in the evolution of explicitly noted ornamentation.
