ChandigarhUnion Territory of north India, located on the plain just south of the Shiwalik Hills, about 240 km/150 mi north of New Delhi, and bounded to the east by the state of Haryana and on all other sides by the state of Punjab; area 114 sq km/44 sq mi; population (2001 est) 900,900.
