Chapel-en-le-Frith

Market town in Derbyshire, England, 9 km/6 mi north of Buxton, in the northwest of the Peak District; population (2001) 6,400. It is a sometimes called the ‘capital of the Peak’. The church here is dedicated to St Thomas à Becket. The name of the town may refer to its origins as a settlement on the edge of the Peak Forest during the medieval period.
