Chārīkār

City in Afghanistan and the capital of Parvan province, lying 1,539 m/5,049 ft above sea level in the central part of the country; population (2001 est) 191,000. It is on a major road linking the capital, Kabul, with provinces to the north. Industries include pottery, iron goods, cutlery, and silverware, and a large textile factory, founded in the 1960s in nearby Golbahar, is also a major source of employment.
