Charlesbourg

City in southern Québec, Canada; population (1991) 70,800. It is a largely residential suburb, with shopping centres, Québec's zoo, and some light manufacturing.

One of the largest municipalities in the Québec area, just to the northeast of the city, it was created in 1976 from historically agricultural Charlesbourg (Bourg-Royal, 1659) and several other municipalities.
