Cheboygan

City in Cheboygan County, at the northern tip of Michigan's Lower Peninsula, USA, at the mouth of the Cheboygan River, on Lake Huron's Mackinac Channel, across from Bois Blanc Island; population (1990) 5,000. Settled in 1857, it was a major late-19th-century lumber port and is now a commercial fishing and resort centre, with some wood-based industry.

The city is surrounded by lakes, marshes, and Mackinaw State Forest.
