Colville Indian Reservation

Indian reservation in northeastern Washington, to the north and west of the Columbia River; area 5,482 sq km/2,117 sq mi; population (1990) 7,000. It is home to Salishan groups including the Colville, Coeur d'Alene, Kalispel, Nespelim, and Sanpoil. The smaller Spokane Indian Reservation (615 sq km/238 sq mi; population (1990) 1,500) lies to the southeast.

To the north is the 4,856 sq km/1,875 sq mi Colville National Forest, whose units are separated by Franklin D Roosevelt Lake (on the Columbia River).
