Childersburg

City in Talladega County, eastern Alabama, USA, near the Coosa River, 49 km/31 mi southeast of Birmingham; population (1990) 4,600. Childersburg is a lumber, fertilizer, and gunpowder producing centre.

Childersburg is on the site of a Coosa capital seen by De Soto in 1540. Nearby is Kymulga Onyx Cave, a 2000-year-old burial site in De Soto Caverns Park.
