Chillingham

Village in Northumberland, England; population (2001) 124. It is situated on the River Till, 13 km/8 mi southwest of Belford railway station. Chillingham Castle, the seat of the Earl of Tankerville, was built in the reign of Edward III; its park is part of an ancient forest, now inhabited by the unique herd of Chillingham wild white cattle. The church here dates from the 12th century, but has been much restored.
