Chindwin (river)

    0.04 sec.

Chindwin

River of upper Myanmar. It rises in the Patkoi mountains near the Indian frontier, and flows south for about 800 km/500 mi, joining the Irrawaddy on the right bank between Mandalay and Pagan.

During the rainy season the Chindwin is navigable by steamer to Homalin, at its confluence with the Uyu, 480 km/298 mi upstream. Logs from the forests are floated downstream to Yangon.
