Chingola

Town in central Zambia, approximately 100 km/62 mi northwest of Ndola and adjoining the Nchanga copper mine; population (1990 est) 163,000. The town dates from 1943 and lies in a forested area 1,520 m/5,000 ft above sea level. It provides services to the mining community and has road and rail links to Kitwe, Mufulira, Ndola, and Chililabombwe. Local agricultural products include maize and cassava.
