Choiseul, César, duc de, Sieur du Plessis-Praslin (1598-1675)

French general, also known as the Maréchal du Plessis. He gained a decisive victory over the Spanish at Trancheron in 1648 and, having been given command of the royal forces in the wars of the Fronde, he defeated Marshal Henri Turenne at Rethel in 1650. He was made a duke in 1665.
