chromogranin

Protein released by the adrenal gland, along with the hormone adrenaline, during times of stress. There are three types, chromagranin A, B, and C. The function of chromagranins is poorly understood, but they do have an antibacterial affect that could boost the immune system when it is suppressed during times of stress. Chromagranin A also stimulates insulin release and relaxes blood vessels - functions similarly reduced by adrenaline during stress.
