Chrysippus (c. 280–207 BC)

Greek Stoic philosopher, born at Soli in Cilicia, Asia Minor. He studied in Athens, first at the Academy (the philosophical school founded by Plato) under Arcesilaus, then under the Stoic philosopher, Cleanthes, whom he succeeded 232 BC as head of the Stoa (the Stoic school founded by Zeno of Citium). Only fragments of his works survive.
