Church, Benjamin (1639-1718)

American soldier and Indian fighter. In 1676 he led the fight at Mount Hope, Rhode Island, that resulted in the death of King Philip. Later he led five different raids against the French and Indians in the areas of Maine and Nova Scotia.

He was born in Plymouth, Massachusetts.
