Ciamician, Giacomo Luigi (1857-1922)

Italian chemist. He studied plant products, analysing essential oils. His other important work was on photochemistry.

He was assistant to Stanislao Cannizzaro at the Chemical Institute of Rome from 1880 and professor of general chemistry at Padua from 1887. From 1889 he was professor of general chemistry at Bologna.

His works include La chimica organica negli organismi (1908) and Fotochimica nell' avenire (1912).
