bedbug

Flattened wingless red-brown insect Cimex lectularius with piercing mouthparts. Bed bugs live in bedlinen crevices during the day and feed on human blood at night. They lay their eggs in the crevices and these hatch in a few days into nymphs (miniature versions of the adults) that take ten weeks and five skin moults to reach adult size. Adults can live for several years if undisturbed.
