Cinna, Gaius Helvius (died 44 BC)

Roman poet and friend of Catullus. As tribune of the plebs, he was murdered by the mob after Caesar's funeral in mistake for his namesake, L Cornelius Cinna. Fragments of his poems ‘Smyrna’ and ‘Propempticon’ survive.
