Circleville

City in south-central Ohio, USA, 40 km/25 mi south of Columbus, on the Scioto River; seat of Pickaway County; population (2000) 13,500. A largely agricultural region, it is home to a bible college and a few light industries, including grain and stock processing.

Founded in 1810, it was originally laid out on the remains of a circular fortlike structure reputedly erected by Mound Builders.
