Short-range radio communication facility (frequency around 27 MHz) used by members of the public in the USA and many European countries to talk to one another or call for emergency assistance.

That was due to yet another dialect, this time Citizens' Band Radio (I was Big Daddy by the way).
The citizens' band radio (CB) is a communication system used for short-distance communication in selected channels within a single band, usually 27MHz.
over the pond, Citizens' Band radio became popular with UK lorry drivers in the mid-Seventies - despite being illegal.
