City of Akron v. Akron Center for Reproductive Health

US Supreme Court decision of 1983 that reaffirmed the right to privacy in reproduction. The petitioner, an Ohio clinic, challenged a state law that set certain procedural restrictions on second- and third-trimester abortions. The Court found that the Ohio measures, requiring parental consent for minors, a 24-hour waiting period, and ‘humane disposal’ of the fetus, were unconstitutional. The ruling reaffirmed women's constitutional ‘personal liberty’ and the right to abortion.
